Robert E. Potrzebowski, Jr.

Mr. Potrzebowski attended Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

As a member of the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys, Mr. Potrzebowski served on its Education and State Government Affairs committees. He was also a charter member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals, as well as a founding member of the Wisconsin Creditor's Rights Association, having served on the latter association's original Board of Directors and currently serving as its Treasurer.

Mr. Potrzebowski has spoken before many local and national associations, including those referenced above, as well as the Wisconsin Government Finance Officers Association and the Paralegal Association of Wisconsin. He has also served as an instructor for Wisconsin's Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Institute.


Matthew J. Richburg

Mr. Richburg attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Public Relations. He received his J.D. from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. 
 
Mr. Richburg is a member of the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys, currently serving on its State Government Affairs Committee. He is the President of the Wisconsin Creditors' Rights Association and serves on its Board of Directors. Mr. Richburg has lectured on The Wisconsin Consumer Act and on various retail and commercial collection topics.  He is licensed to practice in Wisconsin and Illinois.


David A. Ambrosh

David Ambrosh is a graduate of Ripon College where he earned a B.A. in Psychology. Mr. Ambrosh received his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 2001. 

 

In 2006, Mr. Ambrosh was featured in the Wisconsin edition of Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star in the area of Creditor/Debtor Rights, and has both written and lectured on legal topics relating to debt collection. He is admitted to the bars of Wisconsin and Illinois, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin and the Northern District of Illinois, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit. 



Jason D. Hermersmann

Jason Hermersmann earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his J.D. at the Marquette University Law School. 


Mr. Hermersmann is admitted to the U. S. District Court, both the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit.  He is also admitted to practice before the Court of the Ho-Chunk Nation, Oneida Judiciary, as well as the Menominee and the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Courts. He is also a member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals ("NASP"). He has presented numerous times at the NASP's Wisconsin Chapter Meetings on various topics involving bankruptcy, FDCPA, automobile and medical payments subrogation, negotiation tactics and post-judgment collections.



Joseph R. Johnson

Joe Johnson is a shareholder and the firm's Supervising Attorney of Consumer Litigation. In addition to his supervisory duties, Mr. Johnson is the lead litigation attorney for the City of Milwaukee municipal tax claims. He also handles other various commercial and retail matters. Mr. Johnson received both his Bachelor of Science in History as well as his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Ms. Lewis is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, having received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Change & Development with an emphasis on Law & Justice Studies. Ms. Lewis obtained her J.D. from the Hamline University School of Law.

Jennifer Anderson

Jennifer Anderson concentrates her practice in retail litigation, subrogation, and other tort based litigation. She received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Communication at Carroll College and received her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Attorney Anderson is admitted to the U. S. District Court, in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. She brought nine years of collection and litigation experience to Kohn Law Firm, having previously worked in another law firm concentrating her practice in debt collection litigation.


Nicholas Smith

Nicholas Smith concentrates his practice in post-judgment collection matters. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where he received a bachelor's degree in Integrated Science-Business and was a 4-year member of the Warhawk basketball team. Mr. Smith received his law degree from the DePaul University College of Law. Attorney Smith has seven years of experience representing clients in all aspects of debt collection litigation and post-judgment remedies. Mr. Smith is admitted to the U.S. District Court, in both the Eastern District of Wisconsin and Northern District of Illinois.

Ellen French serves as the firm's Compliance Attorney and works to ensure that the firm meets the highest of client and legal standards. Prior to becoming the firm's Compliance Attorney, Ms. French handled post-judgment collection matters for the firm. She attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and was a 3-year member of the Lawrence University Vikings women's fastpitch softball team. Ms. French earned her law degree from Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ms. French also holds a Masters of Taxation degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.


Kirk Emick

Kirk Emick concentrates his practice in post-judgment collection matters. Mr. Emick attended Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training. He then went on to receive a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Mr. Emick obtained his J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 2016, while also earning a Sports Law Certificate from the National Sports Law Institute. During law school, he was a member of the Marquette Sports Law Review and also competed in the National Baseball Arbitration Competition.

Prior to law school, Mr. Emick worked in collegiate athletics as an athletic trainer at Drake University and Ole Miss (University of Mississippi).

Josie Qiu concentrates her practice in post-judgment collection matters. Ms. Qiu attended Queen's University in Kingston, Canada where she earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Economics. She obtained her J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 2017. During law school, Ms. Qiu was a semi-finalist in the Albert R. Mugel National Tax Moot Court Competition. Prior to joining Kohn Law Firm, Ms. Qiu clerked at a consumer bankruptcy firm.


Aaron Birnbaum

Aaron Birnbaum concentrates his practice in post-judgment collection matters. Mr. Birnbaum attended University Wisconsin-Madison where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He then obtained his J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 2004. Prior to joining Kohn Law Firm, Mr. Birnbaum practiced for thirteen years in employment litigation. Mr. Birnbaum has also been committed to the Wisconsin Mock Trial program, participating in high school and earning an All American award in college while continuing to volunteer throughout his career. Mr. Birnbaum is admitted to the U.S. District Court, in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin.


Sade Ojediran

Sade Ojediran concentrates her practice in both consumer litigation and post-judgment collection matters. Ms. Ojediran attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She then obtained her law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2014. During law school, Ms. Ojediran served as the President of her school's Black Law Student Association. Ms. Ojediran also won "Best Petitioner Brief" as a semi-finalist in the Regional Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition. Prior to joining Kohn Law Firm, Ms. Ojediran worked at another law firm concentrating her practice in debt collection litigation.


Daniel Docter

Daniel Docter concentrates his practice in both consumer litigation and post-judgment collection matters. Mr. Docter attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then obtained his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2018. Prior to joining Kohn Law Firm, Mr. Docter clerked at a personal injury and estate planning firm.


Robert W. Kohn

Bob Kohn was the founder of the Kohn Law Firm S.C.

Mr. Kohn attended Marquette University and received his B.S. and J.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He was an active member of many local and national debt collection associations, including the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys, where he served on that group's Board of Directors.

Mr. Kohn was also a contributor to numerous periodicals, authored books on Wisconsin collection law and frequently lectured on debt collection topics for various professional associations. In addition, he lectured at the University of Wisconsin Law School and the Marquette University Dental School. He was also a certified mediator, which he continued to practice part-time in Santa Barbara during his retirement.

The firm recognized his 50 years of practice in 2010 and Bob passed away in 2018.
