Attorney Hermersmann is the firm’s Managing Shareholder and a member of the Board of Directors. He earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his J.D. at the Marquette University Law School. He has been practicing at Kohn Law Firm since 2004 and is admitted to practice in Wisconsin, in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit. He is further admitted to practice before a number of Native American Tribal Courts in Wisconsin. He is also a member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals ("NASP"). He has presented numerous times at the NASP's Wisconsin Chapter Meetings on various topics involving bankruptcy, FDCPA, automobile and medical payments subrogation, negotiation tactics and post-judgment collections.
He currently manages the firm’s day to day operations. Prior to managing the firm, he managed the firm’s Wisconsin attorneys and paralegals. Attorney Hermersmann also extensively handled property and automobile loss cases for insurance companies, rental car businesses and municipalities. He has tried hundreds of cases over the years before court commissioners, judges and successfully tried a number of cases before juries. He successfully defended the firm on a Chapter 13 co-debtor stay issue before the 7th Circuit Court of appeals in Smith v. Capital One Bank (USA), N.A., 845 F.3d 256.
